YES TO LIFE is a new charitable initiative
to open up alternative
treatment options for cancer patients in the UK.
We
aim to bring a positive way forward for those
who have either
exhausted conventional options, or who are simply
wanting a
different approach to their condition.
To
this end we are working both within the NHS and
independently
to improve access to the many promising but little
known non-toxic
treatments - some in common use in neighbouring
EU countries -
that are either hard to obtain in the UK, or else
prohibitively priced.
Our Help Centre is currently offering information,
advice and
support in obtaining treatment. Ultimately we
aim to have our own
treatment centre.

A Maggie’s Centre is for you
if you have been recently
diagnosed with cancer, have
been living with cancer for
years or have a friend or
relative who has cancer.
Each Centre is situated
beside an NHS Cancer
Hospital and has been
designed to be as
un-institutional as
possible, with light, space
and warmth.
A Maggie’s Centre gives you
choices. You can join a
support group, take part in
weekly sessions like
relaxation and stress
management or learn about
nutrition and health. Or you
can simply come in and sit
at our kitchen table, have a
cup of tea and a biscuit and
start to breathe again.

Nutritional therapy,
alongside other positive lifestyle changes, can play
a very important supportive role in the cancer
recovery process. Nutrition is particularly
important for those with cancer considering that
nutrient intake, digestion and absorption is very
often compromised. In addition those with cancer
have altered and very specific nutrient needs
compared with the general population due to
biochemical and metabolic changes occurring within
the body.
Liz Butler is a nutritional therapist with over 10
years experience in the field of cancer nutrition.
Her approach to supporting people during cancer
recovery is based around rebuilding the body’s
defences and correcting the internal environment
making it more difficult for the cancer cells to
survive.

The practice of insight
(vipassana) meditation will be used as the basis of
exploring our relationship to pain and illness on
this residential meditation retreat. Facing
illness in our lives can bring us to a moment when
we need to look deeply into our lives and review our
healing and coping strategies. Developing greater
mindfulness in times of transition, challenge and
confusion can enable us to find new and more
positive ways of relating to our daily lives. The
retreat includes guided meditation/reflection,
group/council process and contemplative writing.
